I have a 2001 Sonata V6 wtih about 100,000 miles on it.Every once in a while , when I turn the key, the engine wont start. The Starter turns the engine over but it just wont even try to start. The odd thing is, if I leave it alone for a while and come back it'll start right up. Has anyone experianced this problem? Could it be a problem in the ignition system?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Kenny

Is the MIL (check engine light) on? Unplug your MAF sensor and try again the next time it happens. Are the plug wires original? Battery good? Plugs over 30,000 or so miles?

The Check engine light is on. I took the car back to the dealer about 50,000 miles ago to get it fixed. That lasted about 2 days. It's been on ever since. Plug wires are the original. Starter and battery are in good shape.

Would suggest take it to dealer to get code reading, could possibly be coil pack.

need to read codes - the crank sensor would cause intermittent no start/hard start- trouble code should steer you in right direction
