I have been getting ~ 16 for 100% of town driving.  How does that compare with others?

Thanks,

Robbie

2008 Sonata V6 Automatic purchased last December.  Driven daily ~20 miles roundtrip.  All city driving since except one 30 mile trip at freeway speeds.  Started out at ~17 mpg, but has steadily improved to 19 mpg where EPA says it should be.

I have a 2006 V6 with 28K and regularly get 23-24 MPG in mostly city driving. (I am pretty easy on it though...)

I drive 100 miles a day mostly highway. I had a 2007 Sonata Limited as a loaner last year for two weeks and 1,000 miles. I averaged 27 MPG with it. I ended up buying a 2008 Sonata 4 cylinder with manual trans. just before Christmas. I average 31 MPG with that car after about 6,000 miles.

Getting 19 during the cold winter months and 21-22 last summer & fall when the weather was warmer.

I conduct a fuel economy survey that includes questions about driving style and driving conditions. Responses for the Sonata here:

Pretty horrible just getting 16, do you let the car warm up? or the driving conditions so harsh?

I'm not sure what the exact numbers are, but compared to the 4-cylander 2002 Honda Accord I had to the V6 2007 Sonata I have now, the Accord got rather substantially better gas mileage in city (frequent stop and go) driving but the Sonata is getting better gas mileage on the highway.  I could care less about gas mileage right now.

That Accord was bumpy, horrible suspension and the Sonata is  a smooth luxury-type ride.  I'll gladly spend a little more on gas for that.  No more smaller compact-type cars for me.  After driving a 1991 Caddy Sedan DeVille for 8 years - yes, even the Accord was too small for my liking.  I'm only 35 years old, but the bigger, the wider, and the fatter the 4-door sedan, the better I like it.

My 2007 Sonata v6 gets an average of 30 mpg. Granted, I have almost 30,000 miles on it. Mostly hwy. However, it went to the shop today for transmission problem. Would not accelerate in drive. Tow driver got it to accelerate but engine light stayed on.
Test drove an 08 and 09 limited edition with the leather interior. Oh my my! Almost traded in!
