My gf just got a '95 Accent, it has been maintained fairly well and only has 45K mi. on it. She has been getting sub-par gas mileage (about 18-20mpg) ever since she got it. I replaced the air filter for her and the oil is fairly fresh, what else could it be? I drive a turbo GTI and I know a common problem with them and gas mileage is the MAF or mass air sensor, could this be her issue as well? Any insight is appreciated. TIA

did you find out why it was using so much gas?
I think our accent (same model you have) is using to much too,but if I did the miles/km & gallon/liter convertion right our car does 33miles/gallon. But thats highway driving in speeds between 60-80mph.
Im trying to find the fuelfilter now since the airfilter & sparkplugs are new and the oil with filter is changed every winter.

You should change the plugs/wires since it is a 95 and they're probally oem.
Also, get a bottle of fuel system cleaner and run it through next time she fills up.
Replace the pcv valve ($5 part) and that will also help alot.
