anyone with a 2006 accent with a manual transmission have a really hard time getting it into reverse when the car is cold???

Could be incorrect syncro clearance.You would probably want to drop at dealer overnight so they can feel it cold.I would let them take it from there.

thank you. If I shift through a few gears and engage/disengage the clutch a few times I can usually force it in to reverse. Could much damage have been done already to the transmission internals if this is the case?

Either way if it is inside transmission it will have to be dismantled and assesed from that point to see what parts are needed.Make a date with your dealer.

My friend has a VW and suggested something that worked for me.
When shifting into reverse make sure the car is fully stopped, then sift into 1st then into reverse.
Going into 1st then reverse seems to help.

You should not have to shift to 1st before reverse.Maybe on a vw but an 06 accent should be able to go directly to reverse.
