does anyone get annoyed of seatbelt warning sound? for the new sonata?
its F_*_ing annoying as hell...
i call up the dealer...and they say .."its the gov. regulation..nothing you can do about it.."
damn.... -.-
why can't they make the warning noise to activate only when they are not in park position(meaning while in drive)
have to turn off engine if i want to go buy something while there are passangers in the car..
they are ready to avoid me & my sonata...because of that noise.
they don't answer my phone any more....HELP......i am bored

It IS a big deal. I can't sit in the car with the engine keeping me warm (Detroit area. Nuff said) unless I am buckled in. If I release the belt to read some while my wife in is the store I get a LOUD bell slung at me repeatedly. If I release the belt (engine in park) to reach the ATM I get the noise of doom again. It is annoying, instrusive and has been attacked by every major car mag in their review of the 06 Sonata. It was a bad decision and there needs to be a way to fix it.

I agree...its annoying.
On the older cars I have owned there is a unit that plugs into the fuse block that makes the noises.....I dont know where the sound comes from on the 06 Sonata.
Can you disconnect the seat belt wiring at the base of the receptacle like on otehrcars?? Would this affect the airbags??

I'm working on locating the wire to clip it. I do not think this would affect airbags since you would be driving. the car must know there is someone sitting in the seat. that seat belt warning is the most annoying thing ever.
I did find a temporary solution for MY particular sonata. i had a remote starter installed on the car. when i use this to start the car and i enter the car i turn the key to the on position then back to off and then back to on and the seat belt indicator is off b/c for some strange reason it thinks the car hasnt been engaged. strange i know.......
this works if i drive w/o my seat belt on. once i click the belt in and undo it i'm back to being sol.
i am still going to clip the damn wire at the base of the chair unless i locate it under the dash or find the location of the chiming. it's too cold and snowy now for me to start looking around. someone keep posting about it!
