Raffi,
I have an 05 Accent GT. I got my short ram off a guy on ebay. K&N wanted nearly $155.00 for theirs. I paid just under $30 for mine. Works great and fits perfect. Hey, it's a cheap way to go but, it does the job rather well.
Good Luck,
Brant

Brant,

That looks pretty good, way to keep it clean. Might I suggest that you build a wall between the ram and the header so that you can keep the warm air away, It is easy to do and you will increase performance a little.

Thanks for the tip Poacher,
As a matter of fact I rigged inside about a two foot long three inch wide flex hose from the fender well to just under the short ram to feed it more air. Works very well. Heck, K&N suggested the same thing.

Did you get that advice from me? I didn't know that K&N suggested that to. Good to see that they are using their heads.

Hey Poach,
Yea K&N gives you a tube to install when you purchase their kit. Hell, it was a heck a lot cheaper to go the way I did. I still can't understand why something so simple has to be so expensive.

That is why I do things the redneck way. I make it look good, it is functional, and most of all, it is usually free or damn close to it.

to brant and poacher..just curious, about that mod you made with the flex hose from the fender wall to the intake..how exactly do you do that again..can you go into more detail please if you could..like how do you fasten everything, where on intake do you attach that end, and where on the inside of the fender do you attach the other end..stuff like that..thanks

Raffi,
Oh your gonna love the intake!!! I ran my hose from just behind the lower grill. Ran it up past the screws where the old air-filter was. Tie-wrapped it "neatly", whereas the hose comes about 4 inches away from the filter itself. While the car is in motion, air is forced through the hose right into the intake. Quite simple more so the trying to explain it. You'll have to play with it and make it work for whats best for you. Hope this helps....good luck!!

I ran mine through the fender, right below the battery tray is an opening. I ran mine through there up to the opening in the end of the cone. This way the air is still forced through the pipe and you won't pick up as much moisture from the road. Hell do both get some big air

ok dudes, need you again...
went to put that short ram intake on just now but couldnt...a portion of the underside of the stock hose is connected to something else
under it..im guessing it might be the MAF, but maybe not..and my new intake tube doesnt have such a connection...anybody??

Raffi,
Not to worry my friend. As long as the short intake has a connection for the breather hose from the valve cover, thats all you need to worry about. Rip out the entire factory air filter system. Keep the original screws in place just in case for some reason you need to re-install it. Other then the hose from the valve cover connected to the new intake, don't sweat it!! Tighten the adjustable clamp to the throttle-body, then the clamp to the intake itself. Put the filter on and tighten it's clamp. Connect the small breather hose from the valve cover....keep in mind the intake may have come with a new hose, in that case replace it with the factory hose and then you're all set to go. Hope this helps, let us know!!

Though I am not entirely familiar with your year, my guess is that you are talking about the baffle portion that they put in these little guys to cut down engine noise. If this is the case, yank the sucker, it does nothing.

Hell, I was under the impression that it sorta collected moisture. However, since it was factory installed, it's probably called. a "Type "A" Collection Moisture/Debris Canister".

I just finished the install on the CAI. What a difference!!!! The throttle response, the sound and the performance upgrade! Quite a cheap investment.

Any ideas on headers or exhaust that keeps the cat's in place?
poacher

ebay has nice headers for a nicer price tag give it a look. As for the rest of he exhaust what I did was ran 2 1/2 pipe from the header back with a high flow cat( 60$) cut of the stupid resignator and continued to a Ractive exhaust.

I think I check on ebay every couple of days or so.....never seen any headers. I have found a set at evofusion, 250 bucks. 300 for cat back exhaust. The headers keep the stock cat locations. I might look into that a little. Just trying to figure out if I want to put the turbo kit on.

Nothing like the possiblity of a 200+ hp Accent!!!! Wouldn't that piss the V8 cars and other tuners off?!?!?!?

My Accent is running around 290 horses, and yes, other more "acceptable" tuner makes get really pissed.
