Spark plug wire installation

Below is a diagram facing the engine where the plugs go into the engine (P's), on the right of the engine is the ignition coil(x's), how are the plugs numbered and to which connections on the ignition coil do they go?

i have heard that the plugs go in this order:

1 3 4 2

is this correct?????
