Hi. I just bought an 04 Elantra GLS about 3 weeks ago. I took it in because of a sound it made while cold and they said I need a new motor because of a bad wrist pin? Anyone else had this problem? Should I be worried about getting a new motor? Does it effect the title on the car? Thanks for any help on this issue.

could be a bad wrist pin like they said or thrust washer fell out causing the noise. does it make noise all the time? getting an engine doesn't affect the title. also if it needs wrist pin best bet is to get a used engine, easiest fix.

Its only got 39K, so its still under warranty, so the dealer is going to do it for free...I was just worried about any other issues I should be aware of.
The problem itself I wasn't so sure was a wrist pin...the noise goes away when the engine gets warm, oil pump, lifter issue?...but I wasn't going to argue if they wanted to put a new engine it.
Is there anything else I should ask the dealer about? Thanks

If the dealer is replacing the engine with a new one under warranty, you are in good shape.  Find out if they replace the timing belt or not.  I'm guessing they will, but make sure so you know when the correct service interval (in terms of mileage) will happen for the belt.
