elantra oil cahnge
bought a 2014 2.0 elantra GT a couple of months ago. plan on having the oil changed for the first time at 3,000 miles. is it a good idea to have the first one done at the dealer? i like to change my own, but was told i may have trouble with the filter being over tightened from the factory. opinions appreciated.

I agree- if you know how to change your oil, go ahead and do so. however- keep your receipts for the filter and oil, you will need them if you ever have to verify oil changes for warranty purposes. also, I highly recommend using a Hyundai filter, and since it is build after 2013, use a bottle of injector cleaner every oil change as well- recommended by hyundai

New 2014
I just bought a leftover 14 Elantra that had 120 miles on it in the two years that it was on the lot. They said that the first service was free but will only change the oil if it has enough miles on it. We've only got 1600 miles on it and will; probably have about 2000 when it needs to go in. I think that they should change the oil anyway since it's been over two years since it was first used . I might have to take the morning off when we take it in so they don't give my wife a runaround.
