Help on Paint Repair Please
I would appreciate some help on paint repair on my 98 Sonata.
In places the paint has been "perforated" due I think to bird droppings
left on the car. These vary in size from a speck to 10 mm. In each case
the top coat (Prime Green - a pearl type) has been eroded and the grey
primer coat is visible.
My local auto paint shop says to dab the tiny spots with Prime
Green from a "touch up" bottle. The larger ones they say to spray or
brush on a grey primer to build them up - then sand back to flat with
about #2000 grade paper and finish by spraying from a can of Prime
green they will make up.
Has anyone tried this and is this the best way to go about it?
I realize of course that the panels can be resprayed but I am looking for a cheaper alternative that I can do myself.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

RE: Help on Paint Repair Please
When you have metallic paint touching it up will never look right. It will always look darker because of the metallic. The only way is to spray metallic paint. When spraying metallic paint the gun pressure, brand of gun, distance from the vehicle and tip size will change the color. That is why most good painters here in Phoenix earn 100,000 +.
