Hyundai Sonata 2.0GLS fail to start
Dear all,</P>
I have a Hyundai Sonata 2.0GLS to be repaired. The initial problem of the car was that the timing belt broke. However, after this problem had been fixed and the engine had also been overhauled, I start to switch on the engine.</P>
The engine worked well for the first 10 minutes. However, after that, I start to encountered a serious problem which I do not know how to solve. </P>
PROBLEMS:
1. The ignition coil which used to control the plug number 1 and 4 heat up and as expected, the ignition coil which i meant was damaged. Just after that, I thought it was the problem of the ignition coil, therefore, I replaced it with a new original one. (PART SERIAL NUM: 27301-38020 manufactured by HMC). However, this time, I could not manage to start my engine again. When I started to turn the switch on, the ignition coil will then heat up by itself. To avoid any burned up of the coil, I was forced to turn the switch off.</P>
Can anyone answer my question...? your effort in answering this question will very much be appreciated!</P>

Is it only that coil that gets hot?</P>
Remember, the coil will get slightly hot with the ignition on.</P>
What year model is the Sonata?</P>
Does the engine kick over?</P>
Did you check the crank position sensor condition after the belt broke, maybe it is now short circuiting your Crank position sensor causing a non-start situation?</P><edited><editID>Dr. Hundi</editID><editDate>38297.9656018519</editDate></edited>

RE: Hyundai Sonata 2.0GLS fail to start
we need to know the year of the sonata here? if its the 2.0 dohc (mitsubishi) engine i would check the ignition module that sits on the side of the head on the right hand side.
