I have a 2002 Hyundai Elantra that I bought used from a dealer a few years ago. We got a key fob to unlock the doors and a key for the ignition (that does not unlock the doors). Recently, the key fob died so I replaced the battery, the light on the fob now lights up but it won't unlock the doors now. So pretty much, I'm locked out of my car (it wasn't running that well anyway but I'd still like to get in there). Any ideas, suggestions as to what I can do here?

 

Jimmy the door, or call a mobile locksmith to open the door.

After you get into the car, remove the cylinders the key does not operate, and have locksmith code the cylinders to the key you have.

If you do not mind a "2 key" car, go to dealer with proper owner documentation, and have the parts fella get key code from Hyundai... if they equipped, they can cut key by code, or refer you to local shop they work with to get key cut for you..
