2000 Accent Mass Flow Sensor problem, any help would be appreciated
I went to change my air filter and then I got a code P0103, MAF high input. I tried to clean it using the mass air flow cleaner at O'Reileys. I disconnected the MAF and got P0102 low input. I tried to test the bloody thing using my multimeter and wasn't sure what to test. I got a "new" MAF from the scrap yard and installed it. I had cleaned it since it was dirty with that same spray and when I applied power to it, it seemed to suck on something and stall out. I did manage to get it up to 5K rpm and when I let off the accelerator, it quit. However, the "new" sensor got rid of that P0103 code. Now I don't know what to do. I disconnected the battery and tried it again to no avail. I ended up disconnecting the wires from the "new" MAF and it ran good. But it ran just about the same with the old one. What should I do, other than take it to a garage?

Don't know if this will cure your vehicle's problem, but one of the tests we do for a bad MAF sensor is unplug it. If it runs better (it ,the computer, gets info from other sensors) the MAF has a problem. I know we're all trying to save some $$ , but a MAF from the scrap yard is not the better way to go. Suggest you get one from your dealer , exchange, and it should get rid of the problem. Let us know how you make out with this, thanks.
