Default 2004 gas mileage...

isn't having an air intake supposed to improve gas mileage..i put a short ram air intake in last week and now my mileage is down by almost 100 km a tank..

can it be someting else, unrelated to the intake..

thanks guys

Raffi,
Your mileage actually went down?? The intake is not really suppose to increase your mileage significantly, perhaps 2-4 mpg's. What you should feel is a more positive response when you pound the pedal and a bit more increase in HP's. My mileage increased by about 2 mpg's but, the engine response was worth it especially on the highway. I have no regrets.

Raffi,
What are your driving habits?? Around town driving or highway?? Dirty plugs?? The intake is a simple thing, why your losing on mpg's, it's gotta be something simple. Engine running rough?? Toss in a tank full of SUPER 93+ octane fuel and some cleaner.
If ya do a lot of round town driving, stretch her legs on the open road where ya can really open her up.
Keep us advised & we're standing by,

Very simply put, if you rip on the sucker, which I'm sure you have, I did, You will significantly decrease mileage. If you drive it like your grand ma you will notice an increase in gas mileage.

sup dudes..ok i admit, i had just gotten my intake so i drove it a little harder..reved it much higher than normal, later shifting..and the mileage dropped by about 50km/tank...now i just filled up a fresh tank..so we will see how it goes this time, driving normally..

i can honeslty say my driving is done on a 50/50 split...half the time on highways and the other on roads

Raffi,
So you are the problem...LOL jus kiddin bud. I just cruise the parkway, reach down, pull the seat back, crank up some tunes and maintain between 60 & 65 mph. Once in a while I'll get that urge to open her up and let her glide comfortabley at 75 to 80. Listening to those 106 horses scream. Hell, I'll even turn off the tunes and just listen to her hummmm..oopps sorry got caught up in the moment...LOL!!!

Would agree with Brant on this. After putting the intake on mine I noticed the drop in mileage, but then realized I was driving it much harder. Once I backed off, mileage wen up to where it was susposed to be!

There is a noticable difference in the mileage over 65mph. I can get around 40mpg or so at 65, but it drops alot going over 70!!!

Guess I will have to drop it and get it out of the wind a little better!!!!!
