If you read the warranty carefully, you will notice a section for "severe" service. The definition for severe service includes any car which endures salted roads in winter. That would cover about 90% of the cars in the US, and vitually all cars in Canada. Severe service includes much more stringent service intervals, one of which is service of the transmission and fluid changes. It's a "gotcha".

Ah, interesting indeed......

Well we finally got her car to a dealership yesterday, so we'll see what they have to say about everything I suppose.

I'll let everyone know.

Thanks for all the advise and help everyone.

Just wanted to update on this problem.

The dealership has not been able to replicate the problem. They told me that the ATF was about 1qt. low. I'm not sure how that could be, i double checked the container I put the used ATF in and it shows about 3.1-3.2Qt.. I then checked my left-over new ATF (what I did not put into the car) and it shows that I filled the car with like 2.8-2.9qt.

All-in-all it may have been .3-.4qt low on ATF but I checked everything 2-4 times after I did the drain/fill. So I'm not sure how it ended up being about 1qt. low (i'm interpreting that as like .7-.8 low).

The dealership has been good about everything so that is nice. They are still waiting for the parking-lights relay (see 'parking lights won't turn off' thread). So they said they would continue to drive the car here/there to see if they can get the transmission to act up.

Got the car back on saturday, they never did replicate the transmission problem :-(.

According the the reciept they topped off the ATF (see previous post). The dealership said that it has been noted that we had problems with it and that if the transmission did totally die it would be under warentee till 100K (as long as it got scheduled maintance).

With that said I will do a 60K service on the car when the time comes and be sure to purchase everything from this dealership (where I bought the 30K service stuff & where it was checked out at).

If something else happens with the transmission I will update this post again. For now I'll end it here.
