I have a UK 1995 Accent Coupe. The horn does not work properly, When I press the the horn it either does not work at all, works but not very well (it is low then high etc) or it works fine.

Where is the horn located so I can replace the horn sounder to see if this clears the problem, or check for loose a connection?

Or if you have any other suggestions as to the casue of the problem?

 

i have a 1995 accent myself look under the front drivers side behind the bumber. it should be there. there is only one horn.

 

I have a 95 and my horn **** the bed to. I just said the hell with it and tore it out. Now you have cut down on your road rage

 

95 Accent. I read all the posts. My horn is dead. Do I have to remove anything to get to the horn? Can the horn be cleaned up or does it have to be replaced?

 

Generally speaking, you just verify that the horn is getting power with a multimeter, and if it is you replace it. You could check the fuses if there is no power to the horn.

 

I agree, test the horn first. Here's how to remove it:

1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

2. Remove the left turn signal lamp.


3. Remove the left head lamp and the horn attaching bolt.

4. Disconnect the horn connector and remove the horn.

 

The horn works intermittently so I know the problem is with the horn. Thanks for the pix NovaResource. You know the saying. A good pix is worth 1000 words. I would not have thought to remove the headlight. I don't consider it good Engineering to stick a part in such an awkward place. I have noticed that these horns seem to be a common failure item. Another brilliant design feature.

 

Remember, that is a 14 year old car now with 14 year old parts. Electronic parts that are subject to the weather and engine heat don't usually live long. 14 years isn't that bad if you ask me.

 

Forget the traditional horn. I have a train horn kit on order. lol
