Engine cutting out help diagnose
2001 hyundai accent (January build so almost 16) the rocker cover gasket is 2 months old, fuel filter is 3 months last service was 3 months ago.
Okay, on December 14th, my fuel pump died. By December 21st my engine would randomly cut out and engine light on while i was driving. This got diagnosed the same day as a faulty knoc. sensor and pulse generator (b) now, my car is again randomly cutting out and also shuddering a little every now and and again I had it looked at by a mechanic and he said there was an airlock in the fuel line, which he cleared and checked the line for leaks (nothing) then my car ran fine for all the Christmas running around. Now shes dead in my driveway and when i try start it's sounding the same around as when my fuel pump died but the installer of that refuses to look... I desperatly need my car for employment

After engine stalls out, does it restart easily?
When it doesn't want to start, did you check for spark, fuel??
Spark is easy ... just take out a spark plug wire and put an old plug on
Place it on a ground (engine block) and crank. Look for sparks.
No sparks then check backward toward coil.
Fuel .. well, you could use a can of starter fluid and spray into in-take
Be careful not to hit the MAF or MAP sensor.
If engine starts then it is a fuel issue.
If no fuel and no spark then it could be the Crankshaft position sensor?
Good luck

The engine didn't always start. Sometimes yes other times no. Ive had a mechanic out and they've scanned my computer which had no faults (despite engine light on) hes then serviced the car again (serviced 400 kms ago) and it's now fine. Still the anxiety of it breaking down again. So ive joined roadside and left it at that. lol.

The Check engine light only comes on when there is a fault code set.
If it isn't in current codes then it will be listed in the history of DTC.
When it doesn't start then go back to basics and test for spark, fuel, compression, timing clogs, etc.
Good luck to you

How many miles on the engine and what kind of maintenance have you done?
Does the timing belt need changing?
Have you done an oil change recently?
Check the spark plugs to see the gap?
Clean the throttle plate and throttle body?
Clean EGR or PCV?
Throw a bottle or two of injector cleaner?

It's kinda like it has a cough- it acts like its gonna stall out ( but doesn't) in drive and in natural- just replace one coil pack ( it has 4) and replaced purge valve and a new head casket, new spark plugs and new oil change. Can someone please help.?
