Hatchback release - how does it work?
I have a 2005 Accent 3-door hatchback. It seems that when I first got it, I could unlock the hatchback by manually pulling open the driver-side door lock from the inside. But now the only way the hatchback unlocks is with a key in the back. The Hyundai dealer tells me it has always been this way. Am I crazy? Or was I just dreaming about the door-unlock / hatchback-unlock connection?

The dealer is wrong. If you have central locking, the hatch should lock and unlock with the driver door switch. Does the driver door switch lock and unlock the passenger door? If it does, it should lock and unlock the hatch as well.

So it's called "central locking", eh? Is there any way to verify if that feature was included on my car?

That's another thing that I think used to work and now doesn't. I could unlock the driver's door, and then the passenger door would unlock too. Now that is not working either.

1.Remove the negative(-) battery terminal.
2.Remove the driver's side crash pad lower panel.
3.Remove the door lock relay in the passenger compartment relay box, then check for continuity between the terminals.

Was that the same dealer that said t has always been that way? Did they least acknowledge that they were wrong?

Well, yes, in a quiet sort of way. No one likes to have their nose rubbed in it. And the service was otherwise excellent, so I wasn't going to push the issue.
