Default Hyundai / Kia Steel Plant?

It is becoming somewhat known that Hyundai/Kia have their own steel plant to manufacture the steel for their cars and other things. Is there any talk about the quality of this steel? Will it be able to handle the salty roads of the NE United States? Just looking for general opinions ( facts would not hurt also ) about their steel. Over the years there has been talk about various countries quality of steel.

I bring this up because I am getting close to purchasing a new car and I currently own a 2002 Elantra which is terribly rusted and had the control arms rust/bust( fix with recall). I took Hyundai off my list as a possibility, given this fact. But, now I am reconsidering them. All the reviews and long term test drives never get into this important fact, that rust can be a problem.

Thanks for your time and opinions, Angelo.
