What Else Do I Need When replacing Steering Knuckle?
Hi-
I broke the driver's side steering knuckle when trying to free the brake rotor on my 2001 Elantra.
I found a used knuckle at a salvage yard and am waiting for it to be shipped and a I have a mechanic who will install it.
From what I can see on line, the wheel bearing is pressed into the knuckle
but I don't know if the salvage part has the bearing.
So what else should I get in case it doesn't have it?
I thought about getting a whole new hub (since the rotor is still frozen to it). That doesn't come as an assembly since the bearing needs to be pressed in.
Questions:
1. Do the hub and knuckle have separate bearings?
2. If the knuckle has the bearing, do I need anything else if I
use the old hub?
3. If I get a new hub, what all do I need in addition to the knuckle
and possibly a bearing for it?
Sorry to be so thick...
Thanks!
Regards,
Kurt
