Default 2005 Santa Fe alternator options

Hello All,
I have a 2005 Santa Fe 2.7l and I am replacing the alternator. I have looked around at local auto parts store and I find that the alternator for the 2.7 is way more than the 3.5. Aside from the post sticking out the top of the alternator for the 2.7, what is the difference between them. And is it possible to use the one listed for the 3.5 provided my cable will reach another 2" to attach to the side post? They both look to have the same mounting brackets. Thanks for your time.

I would not suggest using the 3.5L alternator on the 2.7L because it probably will not fit and even if it does the output and connections will be different. I would need to verify the parts by your VIN number but I believe that you need part number 37300-37800 (available for sale here: GENERATOR ASSEMBLY made by Hyundai. #3730037800) or remanufactured part number 37300-37800-RM (available for sale here: ALTERNATOR ASSEMBLY made by Hyundai. #3730037800RM).
