Default problem with radio/CD player

The CD player no longer works in my 2007 Hyundai Santa Fa. Out of warranty of course. I was told by the dealer that they do not service the radio - they only take it out and replace it with another - at a cost of $400-$600. That's way more than I want to pay. Is there a better way to get my radio fixed, or do I just need to take it out and buy a radio at Best Buy?
