I had the very same issue. I bought it new and after only16K miles the tires were junk and cupped and roaring loud. I didn't have the money for new ones and I was also reading about other people the same problems and many saying the front is out of alignment and it can not be adjusted. I stated all this to Hyundai Consumer Affairs which fell on deaf ears. So amazingly after suffering thru 31K LOUD miles I replaced the tires and the noise was magically gone. Now I am worried that if there is a problem with the front end it will ruin the new $500 set of tires on it now.

 

They are cheap tires, much like the car. A well built cheap car but still cheap. Hyundai cars have all ways had high road noise. Put Michelins on, the difference will surprise you.

 

rotate your tires religiously, going over one time can start an irregular wear pattern that will never go away and continue to get worse and worse no matter what you do. Better tires are less sensitive to this.
