Just wondering if TPMS is standard on 2010 Hyundai Sonata Limited i4??
Cant find any details on it on the Hyndai canada site!!!

I just got winter tires installed and the TPMS light did not turn on as i was expecting as the rims are just regular steal rims...

 

TPMS systems have been a Federal requirement on new cars in the U.S. since the 2008 model year. This requirement is a legacy of the roll over problems on early model Ford Explorers running under inflated tires, combined with some stock tires that were poorly designed for use on trucks. Unless there has been a recent change in the law, no such TPMS requirement exists in Canada.

To confirm whether TPMS is installed on the car or not, turn the ignition key to the on postion. All the indicator lights in the cluster will light up. If TPMS is not on the car, indicator lights #2 and #3 will not be evident.

 

I don't think so, at least for Canada but one can easily distinguish between the TPMS sensors and regular valve stems. In the U.S. they have been mandatory at least since 2008 since both my 2008 and 2009 have it as standard equipment.

They are an unmixed blessing, however, as you will see them go off if they drop much below the necessary PSI which I try to keep at 32 psi. And the worst aggravation is that new sensors have to be programmed at the dealer with his "magic" computer. And these things are not cheap either. You can look on ebay for a representative price and I believe at the dealer they are at least $60 each plus programming which in some cases can be classified as highway robbery.

The TPMS sensors can be transferred from the alloys to steel wheels and vice-versa and it is recommended that "rebuild" kits be utilized although I'm not entirely certain that is really necessary.

 

Ok So i checked and there are no TPMS for a 2010 Hyundai Sonata Limited i4 with nav...

I am still not sure if I am happy about it or not.. but atleast I know I don't need to take it to the dealership to get it checked!
