Smart key holder

What is the purpose of the sonata smart key holder (other than to hold the smart key)? Why would I bother with it?

It's not really a holder but more of a dock. It's used to start the car if the battery in the key dies or if it has trouble connecting wirelessly.

Thanks much. I could not find anything in the manual beyond its existence.

I have a Sonata Hybrid and the manual references the "smart Key Holder" but I can't find it in the car, anyone know wher it is. I have Nav system too.

It's in the center console.
