Default Hyundai Speedo not working

I have a 2002 2.0 petrol Trajet. The speedo and mileage just do not move. I have not been able to find the speed sensor so have google possible places. As I have abs sensors, I presumed the speed sensor was in there and cleaned the parts including the reluctor ring which was heavily rusted but no cracks. My abs light stays off and all fuses are fine. I have also took out the reverse sensor which is on the top trans. everything seems to be working fine. I have took dash board apart and had a look at speedometer. everything looks fine. Does anyone have an idea of whats happening or where the speed sensor is for sure. thanks in advance tony

VSS is in the gearbox, b.t.w. .
Do you get speed signal on the OBD DLC ? If so the cluster may be bad. If not, then the sensor.
