Default blower fan stops intermmidently

2006 tuscon : the heat/ac blower fan will stop every once in a while for about 15 to 30 seconds then come on again. the dealer has replaced a relay and the blower fan but the problem still exists. anyone have any ideas to what might be the cause.

I know EXACTLY what the problem is. I also have a 2006 Tucson and I had the exact same problem with mine. The fan would blow and then just shut off for no reason and a few seconds later kick back on. It wasn't the relay because I could hear it kick on and off. The problem is the fan speed dial itself. Actually, the whole HVAC control panel. All 3 dials are combined in one control unit. I purchased a used one off eBay for about $20 and replaced it myself. It solved the problem completely and it hasn't come back in over a year.

I could have gone to the dealer to have it replaced under warranty but I was afraid they would think the problem was the relay and not the controls (as your dealer did). I hope your Tucson is still under warranty because I'm sure it won't be cheap if you have to pay. Tell you dealer to replace the HVAC control panel.

Nova Resource... Thank you!

I do however have to share some of the bumps I ran into taking your advice. Not your fault though. Got the wrong years controls.

I had the same problem in my Tucson (fan turning on and off all of the time with that loud clicking sound) and I followed your advice. I changed the HVAC console and everything worked but the A/C. I think my problem was that I replaced my 2006 console for a 2007 console. Both were OEM without Auto AC. There was a slight difference though between the two control units. The 2006 had an "off" setting on the vent settings and the 2007 had a "0" setting on the fan speed settings for off. Though after plugging in the wire harnesses it still turned on and off no problem. The problem was the A/C switch didn't work on the new 2007 console in a 2006 Tucson. I had to re-pin some of the wires. After about 2 hours with a multimeter and testing the settings, I finally got it to work perfectly.

It was definitely the console. The fan turning on and off has something to do with the switches within the console. They wear out. Replacing the console does fix this problem. I got my new one on ebay for $50.00.

My only suggestion is to switch out your year console with the same year console, or you may be spending 2-3 hours repining wires like I did. Was not fun.

Anyway... Fixed! Thanks Nova!
