Default 2001 XG300L Alarm

I read the owner's manual but still not sure of the alarm system well.

If I do not use the remote control to lock the doors, just use door switch to lock then close doors, or use the mechanical key, is the car armed (alarm turned on)?

No, you have to use the remote to arm the alarm.

Thank you for the reply.
My 2001 XG300L alarm is intermittent. It does not happen often but sometimes when I am driving, the alarm goes off with flashing turn signals. Car is still driving like normal with no other symptom.

Is there a simple way to disable the alarm hardware without affecting its drivability? Thanks again!

It happened again this morning during a short 5 minutes drive. Two minutes after I started driving, alarm sounded with four flashing turn signal lights. I was going to stop and restart the car, but it stopped itself in a few seconds, so I continued on and finished my short trip.

Default 2001 XG300 driver side lower dash panel removal

I found this link: http://www.northcoastkeyless.com/200...-instructions/

I contacted them but they don't know how to remove the panel to get access to alarm module. Does anyone here know how? Looks like I am one step away from being able to turn alarm off.

Thanks

Remove the wires going to the siren or speaker or horn

Do you mean to just remove the alarm sound when it goes off? I like to totally disable the alarm. However, in any case I will have to remove the lower dash panel to access the alarm module.

Well you said the car still drives like normal with no other symptom
So, go to the siren or horn or speaker and remove the wires.
At least you won't have the annoying siren

However, if you want to remove the alarm totally from the system then you need to know how deep does this alarm system goes.
Does the siren just go off or will it disable the engine??

If the link I provided is correct, it disables the alarm system but car still functions, like an early year inexpensive car with no alarm.
I recently found that although my car still drives normal when alarm goes off with flashing signal lights, if I stop and turn the car off, I can't re-start it before the alarm turns itself off again for an uncertain time length.
