I have a Santa Fe that cant have the engine light cleared unless the engine is pulled apart and the carbon build up is cleaned. I also have a new Accent with only 5,000 miles on it and suspect will have the same problem as it also has a GDI engine. Will running non ethanol fuel help prevent this in the Accent until I can get rid of it? The dealer of course will not warranty the problem so I'm going to get rid of these vehicles as soon as I can afford too. Thanks for any input.

What makes you think the engine must be de-carbonized????
What is the DTC code??

PO275. After a heated exchange with the service manager who has no problem with wanting to charge me thousands of dollars and not passing inspection on a 3 year old vehicle still under warranty, the owner of the dealership gave me a few cans of cleaner at no charge. This may clean out the engine and solve the problem. But its not looking good. I bought a lemon and will probably get ripped off by Hyundai.

avisitor, I see your in Albany. I bought the vehicles in Queensbury. If you know any good mechanics in the area that can give me an honest assessment it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

P0275, after a search, it appears it is a code for engine balance.
When a cylinder(s) contribute less power than the rest of the cylinders, the fault code P0275 is set.
Usually, it is a fuel injector that is stuck or clogged.
Hence a few cans of cleaner.
The car won't pass state inspection cause the check engine light is on.
Clearing the CEL won't pass either cause certain test cycles must be completed
And in that time to test, the CEL will turn back on.

On a Santa Fe, there are six cylinders. Three of them are under the in-take manifold.
This is probably why it cost so much. To access the fuel injector behind the in-take,
It would take a lot of time. (This is why I prefer an in line 4)
I have seen where the fuel from the gas tank is disconnected
And the cleaner is fed directly to injectors
The engine is run until all the cleaner is gone
Sometimes it helps. It certainly is the easier thing to do.

Yeah, I have trouble of my own that I do a lot of my own work on my car.
And for the stuff I can't do, I end up paying ... to get my car fixed.
Wish I knew of a good mechanic and a good garage to take my car.
Right now I've got a P0440. Hoping it just needs a new gas cap.
