I just got an '01 Accent the other day.  It has 48K on it.  I'm not sure if the previous owner ever changed the transaxle fluid.  (It's an auto).  I read somewhere that it should be changed at 30K.  I was just going to have it changed at 60K when I take it to the dealer for its service influding timing belt change.  Can I wait that long?  30K seems a little too soon to me, to be changing the auto. trans. fluid. Thanks.

PS:  The trans. fluid is red, and it shifts perfectly from Park to D and R, no lag, no jerking, no unusual signs.  The trans shifts firmly and smoothly through all 4 gears.

Hyundai recommends changing the fluid every 30K miles to maintain the warranty.  Personally, that's when I change mine and in my opinion, a very good idea.  I do not feel that is too soon.
