I'm an Amsoil dealer and they are selling WIX 57061 Oil Filter for my 2006 LX Sonata.  I'm using Amsoil Synthetic 5W-20 with a 7500 mile change interval.  I have been using the Hyundai filter.  Any pro's/Con's to using the WIX with this type of interval?  Can I expect same type or better performance from a WIX filter?

That's the cartridge filter, right?  I don't really know much about those.

For the standard screw-on base filters, there was an issue with aftermarket filters not having the correct specs which led to oil starvation.  Most commonly it seemed that Fram was the culprit; the reputation for "good" aftermarket filters seemed to be that Wix and Purolator were okay.

In that case, though, I think it had more to do with the pressure of the bypass valve.  Honda and Hyundai used the same screw-on base, and Honda has a higher trip point for the bypass valve, which means that if a Honda-spec filter was used on a Hyundai, it wouldn't bypass until a higher pressure than required and the engine would suffer damage from oil starvation.

I'm not sure how any of that applies to cartridge filters though.

I have been using an Amsoil oil filter on an 2000 Sonata for seven years and an 04 for four years with no problems. What I don't like is the small filters that most auto mfg's have gone to.

Is the Amsoil filter larger than the Hyundai OEM filter?  What are its dimensions?

Actually the filter demensions are the same. I checked them about four years ago when my daughter got  the 04. Its possible to use a bigger diameter since the was adquate space. My 02 Grand Caravan uses the EAO96 as opossed to the EAO42 which is the same size as the OEM filter.
