Am a new Matrix owner from Singapore and  have the car for about a week.  Have previously owned the Excel and Elantra and have not had any problem with this brand of cars.   The Matrix, also known as Lavita in other part of Asia, is a very popular car in this part of the world and many of us, Matrix owners, are very happy and satisfied with the car except for its fuel consumption which is higher than those of Japanese made.  This is understandable as the car is 1.3 ton which is considerably heavier than Jap cars.  Any Matrix owners who would like to share tips on achieving better FC would be much appreciated.

Perhaps a picture? I'm not sure what that is, since it isn't imported to the U.S.

Hi Everone;
I am Mat from S'pore. Matrix FC is high. I just bought the new FaceLift 1.6 Auto and the Fuel Consumption(FC) is around 8.5Km/L.
Very taxing. I am also looking for economic ways to reduce FC. Anyone can help?

Hi every1, I have been driving the first model Matrix and changed to the latest facelift model recently. There isn't much u can do regarding FC, any modding done to the car with the intention solely on fuel saving will be quite negligible due to the weight of the car. I get around 10.5-11.5km/l manual version, for auto it is around 8.0-9.5km/l. The trick to maximise FC is making your car engine run more efficently; using iridium plugs, grounding, high flow filter and magnets are some of the basic mods to improve power and FC.

Found out that the FL model air filter cover has a long funnel like nose sticking out to the center of the area. Unable to fit any high flow filter this way. Anybody done any mod to install a K&N filter? Cut away the protruding part
