I have a 2000 Elantra. The gas gauge is always incorrect and seems to hit empty well before the supposedly 14 gallon tank is empty. I should get ~400 miles in one tank but by the gauge i only get maybe 250? Is there any way to calibrate the unit? I already opened it up to make sure there was nothing catching it. Anything helps!!

It's probably a bad fuel level sending unit in the fuel pump; I think you'd have to replace the whole pump to fix your gage.

Doohickie is correct. If your build date is after 3/2/99, the level sensor is available seperate from the pump assy. p/n # 94460-29820  $38.53.
