ORIGINAL: ArtZPACarGal711 I have a 2001 Accent GL, and love the car. It is nice and small, but the gas mileage took a nose dive as soon as the ethanol level in gas went up. You never get the mileage they claim you will. I have heard that while the engine is great and will run basically forever, the cars are known for chewing through trannies. And I can agree with that- mine blew out at 40,000 miles, two months after I bought the car, and I didn't abuse it. It was replaced under warranty, but the replacement tranny has never seemed quite right. Other than that, however, the car has been good to me. Make sure that the timing belt is changed every 60,000 miles and that all recommended servicing is done, and the car should be good to you. Good luck. i have the same car year make and model, (infact it looks like we're going in the same direction in mods, I wonder where you got your body kit. i can't find side skirts for the four door model, but thats beside te point) any ways the same thing happened to me word for word, and it was still under warranty just like his. but other than that i love my accent and haven't had any problems other than basic maintance at all. they are very dependable and relibale little cars
