I'm pretty pessimistic that the brand of filling station you choose matters much. Gas is a commodity. Your local Shell is going to buy from the regional wholesaler, who gets their gas from a refinery--maybe run by BP, maybe by Citgo, or someone else you haven't heard of. The gas you buy today at your favorite filling station is going to be of different origin (Middle East vs. Africa vs. West Texas) and refinery when you go there enxt month. I think the only difference is if the local station owner/manager chooses to add Shell's (or Chevron's, or whatever the brand's) additive package into their tanks after taking delivery from the wholesaler via tanker truck. And even then that may be a bunch of marketing bunk.
