I've got an '06 GT V-6 (auto) with 15,000 miles.... Driving on the Interstate, cruise on, doing 70 mph, "Check Engine" light comes on...... I pull to the shoulder, shut the engine off, and check the manual. I re-start the engine, and the transmission will not engage in any gear.... I could select all the gears with the shifter, but the engine would only rev, as in neutral...... Dealer confirms that the transmission is toast........Anyone else out there have similar problems ? Are automatic transmission problems common ?

When i 1st bought my tib 06 gt (automatic) with11,000 miles on it. Mine did something funny with its tranny too (not as bad as yours but) When changing from 2-3 gear it would go BOOM!! *Like i ran over something* If i was pushing the pedal hard when it was shifting, however it would not do this when i use my sport shifter (shifting myself)

Anyways back to the dealer it went and they said the computers shift timer was off and they reset it and it was fine ^-^

An automatic tranmission tanking at 15,000 miles is rare, but probably not totally unheard of.  Some last longer than average, some last less.  A few seem to go on forever and your's, well, didn't.   The tranny should be covered under the 100K drive train warrenty if you are the original owner, or under the 60K bumper-to-bumper warrenty if you are not.
