I have a 2006 Sonata, this is my third hyundai, no problems with the others.
At the first oil change 1000 miles the dealer put an additive in with the oil...said it was like slick 50...i have no idea why they would do that...after that i did my own oil changes....every 3000 miles. i started to notice the engine getting very noisey when starting after sitting over night....i did tell the dealer, but they never said anything until today 26000 miles later that the hyundai filter has a check valve in it to keep the oil from draing back, and that is what i should use...after reading some of the letters on this site...i guess their right...tommorow i get a hyundai filter and see what happens. this is my first post.

Yes, some aftermarket filters will cause that noise.  OEM Hyundai filters are very good and fairly cheap.  I use them, Purolator or Wix oil filters only.  Stay away from Fram.

NAPA Gold filters are manufactured by Wix and are the same filter.  Sometimes they are easier to locate than Purolator or Wix.
