I have an 02 accent.  The check engine light came on.  Whare the possibilites of "system to lean" ?

The Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor could be dirty or faulty. Do you have a K&N or some other type of oiled air filter?  If so, the MAF could be coated if the filter is over-oiled.

There could be a vacuum after the MAF sensor.

Try cleaning the MAF sensor with either an electronics cleaner or a non-chlorinated brake cleaner. Do not use carb cleaner or a chlorinated brake cleaner.  Remove the MAF from the car before spraying it and be careful not to damage the wires Make sure it's dry before reinstalling.

Inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses and replace if neeeded.
