does, anyone know if using the shiftronic mode in the Santa Fe will increase fuel economy?.. generally as a rule manual transmission are better on gas, and i'm use to driving a civic so even though I love the Santa Fe, I'm trying to sqeeze the most out of it, also does anyone know the ideal RPM'S to shift at on the V6 model?... thanks!:)

The reason manual shift has a better reputation for gas mileage is because it does not have a torque converter between the engine and transmission. Automatics have torque converters. In short, the torque converter is a device that allows the engine to idle while in gear. When you increase rpms the torque converter spins up and and engages the transmission (i.e. torque). Manual transmissions have a clutch and the spin of the engine to the transmission is direct.

So the difference in regards to gas mileage is that an automatic's engine will have more rotations to get to maintain the same speed as a manual because it always has to spin a little faster to compensate for the torque converter. The shiftronic is just on overide of the automatic.

In a word, no.  If anything, you will get less fuel economy using shiftronic.
