Hey all. a little background on me I a marine and am trying to fix my friends 2000 tiburon.I used to be a GM certified mechanic but am not familire with the hyundai systems. Basically i have a no start condition. I know i have Fuel pressure and all fuses and relays are good. I pulled a spark plug and the plug looks good but when i turn the vehicle over i get no spark across the gap. so i know i have no spark. i dont have alot of tools or a way to put a scan tool on the vehicle. has anybody had any faults with their crankshaft position sensors or your coilpacks? Anybody have any good ideas besides throwing parts at it? Any advice is appreciated.

Crank sensors are known failures ,do you have injection pulse? Try unplugging the crank sensor which is down by the front of the block by the bellhousing.Unlug it and plug it back in and see what happens.Sometimes they get a bad connection due to manifold heat.

I agree; check the crank position sensor.  It can fail without leaving a code and the car just doesn't start.

I have already unplaged it 2 or 3 times. taken off a wiped it off and kinda banged it alittle and still doesnt work. when you say a known problem are you refering to tiburons or cars in general?

Yeah... if it's BROKEN, cleaning it, disconnecting it, etc., won't fix it.

Put a crank sensor on it or tow it to be diagnosed.
