Hi all, new here. The other day I removed the dash to retrieve the serial number of the radio, and today I put everything back together and now nothing works. when I open the door, the door open light on the dash is displayed but very faint, the security light on the radio and car (somthing to prevent car starting unless you press a button the a remote to eactivate) all Flash.. but if I got to start the car or even use anything that requires power (ie. breaks, lights etc..) those lights stop flashing. Did I miss something when assembling it again ? I try starting the car but it has nothing, doesnt even have that clicking sound when I turn the ignition. The battery itself was charged for a little bit and should o0f had enough charge to turn the engine over. I also checked the Fuses in the Fuse box near the battery which all seem fine. (not the ones under the dash). Just wondering, is there any wiring around the dash area that could cause this ? I read that the hazzard/clock plugs have to go back in reverse order as you took them out... does it it matter if they dont ? I just plugged everything back in. Also, when i did have the dash out (dismantled) everything worked fine, so it's leading me to believe that it's a wiring issue . Thanks :) [EDIT] oh, the car is: 1998 Hyundai Excel Sprint X3 Manual EDIT - Just went outside to have another look before pulling the battery out and onto the charger, and there was no power at all.. not even to the radio security/immobilizer.

I think you pulled a ground wire loose under the dash when messing with the harnesses.

A harness is a bundle or bundles of wires that run through the car and have connectors protruding from it at various places. Think of it as the backbone of the electrical system to the vehicle. The radio is plugged into such a harness, as well as everything else under the dash. The ground wires (which also protrude from the harnesses) are often secured to a metal portion of the car with a screw or bolt, but can also be connected with a slip connector. They can corrode or get brittle with time. If you were pulling or tugging on wires, you could mistakenly disconnected ground wire without knowing it. If you don't know what a wiring harness is, then I suggest you take the car to an auto electric shop or a dealer to correct the problem.
