I saw this Accent in the local yard,

with this engine,

Since I did not wire down the year of the car, I cannot be more specific. But, could anyone tell me which engine is that? Is it the same one used by Elantras?

Looks like a 1.6L DOHC in a 2004 or 2005 model Accent.  If you record the VIN, the Hyundai service site can tell exactly the year, model and engine in the car.  No, Elantra's of the same vintage use a different engine.

Yep, that's a 2003-2005 Accent.  The only available engine in the US was the DOHC 1.6L Alpha-II.  I believe that engine was only used (in the US) in the Accent and the Kia Rio/Rio5.

XD and HD Elantras use the 2.0L Beta and 2.0L Beta-II.

Looks just like the engine in my '01 Accent.  They must have re-designed the way the DOHC looks in apperance sometime after the '03 or '04 model year then.

The DOHC 16V wording on the engine is a dead giveaway.  1.6L DOHC engine
