Hi guys, I'm new here. I just picked up a 1998 accent hatchback i believe the engine is a 1.5L Correct? Anyway i'm looking for an intake system for it. I've looked online and can't seem to find one anywhere. Does anyone know where i can get one or a company that makes one? THanks

You do have a 1.5 SOHC. I have a 95 but it is the same set up. You won't find one for that make but you can make your own real easy. First, take off your air box and buy a cone filter. The small sensor in the top of the box will be fine sitting in the bottom of the box. Take off the next section of stock intake tubing, you won't need it. Inside the rest of the intake leading to the manifold there are two plastic grates, they restrict airflow take them out. The intake piece that sits on top of the rad is held on by two bolts take it off and flip it over. You will see a bulky plastic resevoir meant to redirect the air pop them off and seal the holes. make sure to put it back on because it still feeds air to the new cone filter that you can now put on the shortened intake system. There you have it. It will make the motor sound really mean and increases throttle response you'll enjoy it. For extra kick I put a piece of hose from the end of the cone filter down through the hole in the engine bay leading to the fender just beneath the battery tray. the more air the better. Hope this helps, if you need any more tips or want to know what parts are available let me know.

I am not to familiar with the 1.6 I haven't really dappled with that system yet. One place I would suggest to look would be andysautosport.com. I think that I may have looked for stuff there earlier and saw new Accent intakes if not send me a pick and or post it and I'll come up with some ideas for ya.

Raffi, I looked at it and it looks good. It has good placement, but don't hit any big puddles or your engine will drown. I would say that is a winner, a bit pricey, but a winner.

Not that I'm tryin' to promote this guy's business, but, this is where I bought my intake from....
It was under $30 bucks and it fit good. K&N wanted over $155.00.
Hope this helps.
