Just curious to know if the 2.0 can replace the 1.8 without having to rewire the whole car. I can only assume the computer would have to be up graded to the 2.0. Could you use the wiring loom from the 1.8?

I don't know about yours, but the head on my 1.8 has both 1.8 & 2.0 cast into it. That would suggest to me that the vehicle engine bore is constant, with the difference being in the stroke.

Seeing as that is a mechanical issue and wouldn't affect the electricals, I'd say that the only thing you MAY have to change is the ecu. You may even only have to reset the existing ecu. Check with your local dealership and ask the techs there.

Why are you changing the engine? Are you planning to keep the vehicle pretty stock other than the engine upgrade, if you do change the engine?

The 1.8 engine responds really well to regular maintenance including timing belt replacement. If you fit a CAI, a 4-2-1 header system, hi flow cat and unobtrusive exhaust as well as and decent suspension package (including front bushes) you won't know the car and you'll probably spend less in time, money and sorting.

If you don't want that, then a powerchip will boost your power and torque figures to 2.0 litre figures without any other mods. Obviously the more mods you do, the more the benefit you will receive.

Hoping this helps.

Cheers,

Andrew
