I posted this on the new member site as well, I have a 2001 accent with stock 175/70/13 tires, I found 4 tires 185/75/13 on rims from a 2005 Accent that I want to purchase but am afraid of the tire width in the rear hitting the strut assembly. I checked the measurement between the rear tire sidewall and the rear strut assembly and there is only a 5/8 or 6/8 inch clearance. The 185/75/13 tire is over 1/2 inch wider than the 175/70/13 tire! I am afraid they will not fit in the rear but not sure? Stock tire New tire sidewall 4.8" sidewall 5.5" Radius 11.3" Radius 12.0" Diameter 22.6" Diameter 23.9" I am not as worried about the height. thx.

Since you're swapping both tires and rims, you need to determine the offset distance from the back of each rim set to the hub face. The rims on the new tires may have less offset, keeping the inside wall of the new tires farther away from the struts that you estimated. Yes, you absolutely want to avoid a situation where the new tires rub on the strut tubes. quote:
The 185/75/13 tire is over 1/2 inch wider than the 175/70/13 tire! 185-175 = 10 cm/2 = 5 cm extension of the inside tire wall which about 0.2". You may have more room than you think.
