Hey ya'll ,I'm looking for feedback on TOURING tires for my 2WD 02 Santa Fe. I'm leaning toward Khumo Solus KR21. Also, can I go up one size (235-70x16) without clearance problems? It seems like there is a limited number of choices for the stock size. I'm not at all interested in a part time off-road tire. Any help is welcome.

Bridgestone Turanza, I think I spelled it right. Lasts a long time and keeps good grip.

Going up from 235/60-16 to 235/70-16 will throw off your speedometer and odometer.  The 235/70-16 tire is almost 2" taller creating and error of 7%.  When speedometer reads 60-mph actual speed will be 64.2-mph.

The 235/70 tire will fill out the wheelwell by extra 24 mm. Make sure that you have enough room under the fender. If not, consider lower profiles or smaller rims.

Personally, I'd stick with the 235/60-16 size tire.

As for tire brands, I like the Khumo Solus but I also really like the Kumho Ecsta ASX.  I had a set on my Tiburon and there were a great all-season touring tire (and inexpensive too).  TireRack.com sells them in the 235/60-16 size for about $75 each.

Thanks NovaResource for the reminder about speedometer error issues with different tire sizes. I was only thinking about clearance problems.I opted for the Khumo KR21's in stock size,and the difference is like night and day. It had worn out Good Year Integritys on the front and lumpyFirestones on the back.It was so loud I thought the wheel bearings were bad for sure.Quiet (they sing a bit) and smooth.Will report about tread wear and overall performance.

My wifes minivan had Goodyear Integritys and I hated them.  They were replaced with Goodyear ComforTreds.  Good luck with the KR21's.  I really like Kumhos so I think you made a great choice.

A little late for big mamoo, but for anyone looking into tires:  I replaced the tires on my Elantra Saturday.  I decided to go with a performance tire.  I was interested in the Kumho Ecsta ASX but was a little worried about treadlife.  The cost would have been right around $300 for Tire Rack to ship the tires and then for me to get them mounted and balanced.  To get better treadwear, though, I was also considering Bridgestone Potenza G009s.  The comparable Tire Rack price was $375.  Knowing that Bridgestone and Firestone are the same company, I checked with Firestone.  As it turns out, the G009 is being replaced by the G019.  The Firestone dealer could still get the G009s, and because their replacement is already available, he gave me 25% off the G009s as a discontinued tire.  Total cost out the door for the Pontenzas was $306 at Firestone, so that's what I went with.

So.... if you are considering a Bridgestone and notice that Tire Rack carries two similar name/numbers for Bridgestone tires, try asking about the lower number at Firestone; you might get a 25% discount.

Goodyear Fortera's. I had them as a second and third set on my Ford Escape. They are a bit pricey, ala Michelins, but I think they are the best. Smooth, quiet and great on dry road or in rain and snow. I will definitely put them on my new 08 Sante Fe when these Bridgestone's wear down. Check Consumer Reports.
