A few weeks ago I noticed that I had worn a bald spot in the carpeted floormat under the pedals. I told the dealer about it at the 7500 mile service and they gave me a new set of floormats. I don't remember wearing out the floormats in my 99 Accent or 04 Elantra. Hyundai really should put a rubber scuff mat under the pedals on their driver side floormat. I ended up putting a little rubber mat under the pedals so I won't wear out the carpeting on the floormat again.

That is way early for a mat to wear out.  Maybe it was just a bad mat.  Glad you get it replaced by the dealer.

But in reality, that's what floor mats are for.  They are there to protect the carpet.  I find it a little funny that you have a rubber mat to protect the carpeted mat.  It's like putting a seat cover on the front seats to protect them but being worried about the seat cover wearing out so you put another seat cover on the seat cover.

I see your point, but I wouldn't have had to add the extra mat if Hyundai would have put a scuff mat in the floormat on the drivers side. That said this is the only complaint I have about my 08 Sonata I got just before Christmas. I have nearly 10,000 miles on it and so far it has been perfect. It has exceeded my expectations. The best feature is the great fuel economy I am getting. I am averaging 31 MPG, I think this is excellent for such a large and comfortable car. I am really happy with this car.
