After researching and test driving more cars than i care to think of, I finally (today) bought a 2009 Sonata. I have one more decision...do i get the dealer rustproofing package..it would cost $700+ tax...Only reason that I am considering getting is because I live in Toronto which is literally covered with salt in Winter. Any and all advice will be very much appreciated. I have until noon on Friday to decide.

I'd save your money and not buy the dealer's rust proofing package. It basically does nothing for a new car since it's applied over the painted surfaces and not directly to the metal, except put cash in the dealer's pockets. The corrosion resistance built into modern cars is not perfect, but pretty good compared to the materials used 20 years ago. Think of how many car washes $700 will pay for. As a rule, I reject just about everything and anything suggested by the F&I manager at a dealership.

Welcome to the forums and congratulations! I too just got a 2009 Sonata and I love the car! I got the 4cyl. which has plenty of power for me and is already showing it can achieve excellent gas mileage. I also agree with the others...I did not purchase any of the items the finance guy offered as I feel they are all an unnecessary waste of $. Enjoy the car!
