I just purchased a 2001 automatic Tiburon. The shifter plate had some nasty scratches, therfore I am changing it. How do I remove the shifter knob (automatic) to slide in the new plate?

2001 > G 2.0 DOHC > Transaxle/Transmission

REMOVAL

a. Remove the console box assembly.
b. Remove the knob installation screws.
c. Disconnect the overdrive switch connector, remove the 3 connector pins from connector with small driver, and then remove selector knob assembly.

d. Disconnect the position indicator light connector.
e. Remove the shift lever indicator assembly.
