I just replaced my front brake pads on my non-ABS '02 elantra today and in the process I managed to shear off a lugnut flush with my rotor that had become crossthreaded. The dealership told me they could get me an entire hub assembly for $179!!! but I only need the one wheel stud. Is it possible to just take the rotor off and get the wheel stud in without having to replace the entire hub. Does anyone have directions. Also, is it possible to source just the wheel stud from an aftermarket or any dealerships. THANKS!!!

A similar situation was discussed in another forum thread at  http://www.hyundaiforum.com/m_13088/tm.htm  .  Since none of the stud is left exposed, you'll have to use a punch and I suggest a lighter hammer for control.   If you have difficulty getting enough force on the stud to drive it out, you might have to partially drill it out.  Use a hand grinder or file to smooth the exposed surface and first drill a small pilot hole (1/8" or 3/32") down the center as best you can (because unless you are damn good with a hand drill, you won't).   Remeber to first use a center punch to provide a starting point for the small bit.  Size the next bit to take out as much of the stud as possible without chewing any of the hub away.  Now use the punch and hammer to finish the extraction.  Most auto parts stores and the Hyundai dealership can provide the new stud.

Good luck
